Scottsdale FOP testifies before Scottsdale City Council on Tuesday, Dec 6th

The Scottsdale Fraternal Order of Police testified before the Scottsdale City Council on Dec. 6th.  The FOP spoke against a recommendation by City staff to support any legislation that remove the Constitutional protections currently granted to FOP members for their pensions.  FOP President Chet Anderson argued that removal of Consitutional protections could ultimately lead to higher costs to the City as a result of raids to the pension fund by the Legislature.  Anderson said, “The FOP cannot believe the City would support any measure that could increase costs to Scottsdale when all we (city employees) heard last year was how the employees needed to sacrifice and cut costs.”

The City Council was not swayed and voted to include supporting legislation aimed at removing Constitutional protections for public safety employees as part of their 2012 Legislative Agenda.
